4 Month Old Sawyer

Our baby is FOUR months old! And he is getting so big so fast, but it is so fun to watch him grow.

Things Sawyer likes to do this month:

  • he tries to chew on everything
  • drools on all of his shirts
  • blows spit bubbles
  • he giggles
  • smiles
  • he likes it when you play peek-a-boo with him
  • jumps in his jumper
  • loves to eat! He gets a little crazy when he is hungry
  • he tries to mimic the sounds we make at him
  • LOVES to snuggle
  • shakes his rattle
  • and has been trying to sit up and he doesn't even roll over yet, haha!
We just love him to pieces! As you can already tell because I am constantly posting about him. But I want to be able to look back on all of the small stuff and remember it after these days are long gone.

Nap Time

While I was pregnant, I was so worried about getting the nursery ready in time for Sawyer to come home. And 4 months after he's born, it finally got some use! It was his first time taking a nap in his crib!
He sleeps in our bedroom because he is still so little and wakes up during the night to eat. But for nap time, I think he is old enough for his crib :] I guess most people wouldn't see this as very exciting, but as a mom I find every "first" very exciting!
It's the little moments like this, the one's where I have a hard time believing this is my life, that I want to remember... Like putting my little one in his crib for the first time.

Happy Sabbath

This has always been one of my favorite hymns. And I love this rendition of it! What a great song to have stuck in my head today.

Feeling Beautiful

While I was looking online for a bridesmaid dress to wear to my sister-in-laws wedding, I couldn't help but feel sorry for myself. I have had a hard time coming to grips with my new mom body.. and then I came across a link to Stephanie Nielson's blog and this video. She was in an airplane crash and over 80% of her body was burned. She is such an inspiration! I couldn't help but cry as I realized how minuscule my stretch marks and few extra pounds are. And how worth it Sawyer is. I am a mom and the Lord has blessed me with a beautiful, healthy baby boy.
Stephanie's body may look different than it used to, but there is no doubt that she is still beautiful! And I guess that's how I should feel about myself too! Tonight, I feel humbled.
With Love,

Valentines Day

Valentine's day was a very special one this year. We had a whole day to celebrate the love that we have for each other. And I had the two cutest valentines a girl could have!
Austin and I decided we wouldn't get gifts for each other, but instead for Sawyer. I am pretty sure he loved them!
Sawyer looked absolutely ADORABLE in his "Eligible Bachelor" shirt, I couldn't stop taking pictures of him!

Right when we got up that morning, Austin and I read him his card and opened his toys for him. He is such an attentive little guy. Although, he might not understand the words we were telling him, I know he knows the feelings behind them.

The perfect ending to an awesome Valentines Day!

Baby Cousins!

It is important to us that we are a close family and that includes our extended family as well. I love that we all live so close together and that Sawyer will be able to grow up around his cousins.
Last Sunday, we went to my brothers house to have dinner and watch the Superbowl. It was so sweet to see the youngest three cousins all snuggled together. They are always so sweet to each other.
Normally Zane is never sitting still. I'm pretty sure he skipped being a baby and went straight to being a toddler! He never stopped running around or climbing something. So I was surprised that when I sat Sawyer on the couch next to him, he just held him up and snuggled him!
Jocelyn, Sawyer, & Zane
I have a feeling as these three grow up, they are going to be best friends. And could they seriously be any cuter?! Future heart breakers right here!
Loving every second of this!

I wanted to try out my new backdrop holder for my photography business, so of course Sawyer was my model, and this just turned out perfectly :D I just had to share it.
p.s. he isn't crying... just going a little crazy! lol

3 month old Sawyer!

On January 24th, our little man was already three months! He is so sweet and funny. I love that his little personality is finally showing up :D He has found his hands and loves to suck on his pointer fingers. He has also found his voice and coos constantly. He is quite the talker lately and we just can't get enough of it!
Look at that face! I was trying to get him to smile and this is what I got. haha! And when I started laughing is when he smiled. He knows he is cute!

"Shark Bait oo ah ah!"

Grandma and Grandpa Wilkey got Sawyer this onesie when I was about 6 months pregnant! It's crazy thinking back to when I would just hold this and wonder what He would look like... well Here he is! He's the cutest baby ever! lol. And how awesome is it that the shark's mouth opens?! I LOVE it!
(( And for those who haven't seen Finding Nemo... See it! You'll understand the title of this post. :D ))

A Perfect Christmas

I was so looking forward to our first Christmas with Sawyer. Last year it was just Austin and I, which was great! It was awesome to be newlyweds for a year. But this year we had a little baby to spend it with! We had the greatest time shopping for a couple toys for him. Who knew it was so hard to choose baby toys? haha. We settled on getting him a noisy giraffe thingy (lol!) and a snuggamonkey that lights up and plays lullabies. I also got him some really cute clothes from Old Navy and H&M. Those stores have the cutest baby boy clothes!
Anyway, we spent Christmas Eve at Grandma Betty's house and that was so much fun! Austin's cousins, Jeannette and Melissa just had babies so Sawyer got to be around some tiny cousins. It felt like having a baby on your lap was the new accessory! We even borrowed each others babies for a little while.
Grandma Betty always puts so much work into the family dinners. They always turn out so nice and something I always look forward to!
4 generations! How awesome is that?!

On Christmas Day, Austin tried to wake me up SO early because he was so excited! But Sawyer had just started sleeping through the night the night before so I was okay with sleeping in a little. That was one of the best gifts I had gotten from Sawyer! When we all did get up we went right to opening presents. Sawyer was so alert and happy. He was smiling and staring at his toys!
Austin got a new wallet and some turtlebeach headphones for his xbox. He also got some games and a mustache mug! I got a new purse, Just Dance 4, and a KitchenAide mixer!! We are so blessed to be able to give each other gifts.
We went to my parents house later that day to have dinner and hang out. My in laws even went too! So we got to spend the day with our families at the same time. Our families are huge! lol. It was a little crazy but I wouldn't like it any other way.
My mom is so cute! She crocheted all the grandkids hats. All the boys got Despicable Me minions, Amanda's girls got Zebras, and Rachel's girls got Minney Mouse hats. They were adorable!

Sawyer and Daddy making almost the exact same face! lol

At the end of the night, I had a chance to sit and think about the real meaning of Christmas, and that's the birth of Christ. After just having Sawyer two months before, I had a new perspective. And that was of his mother, Mary's. I wonder is she knew all that Christ had in store for him in his life? If she really had a clear knowledge of what he would have to go through. He had to suffer so much to account for all of our sins, and as a mother I cringe at the thought of anything hurting my baby.
I have such a strong testimony of Jesus Christ and the Atonement. I strive to follow in his example and to have the strength he had. I hope I can teach Sawyer and my future children to do the same.
I also have a testimony of an eternal family. Austin and I have been so blessed to be able to have a child. I am thankful to have been married and sealed in the temple and have Sawyer born into our eternal family. There is nothing better and He is so loved.
I am so grateful for my parents and for my inlaws, Todd and Rona. They do so much for us and They are the perfect grandparents! They have always been there to love and support us. We love them so much! I couldnt ask for any better.
We love Christmas!
